Antique DOLL Collector magazine is pleased to share another pattern from our archives.

Designed by the late Sylvia MacNeil and included in the May 2008 issue of Antique DOLL Collector this pattern is meticulously designed and will be of great interest to today’s doll costumers.

MacNeil was known for her detailed research on original costume design and construction techniques used on the French poupées of the nineteenth century. MacNeil shared her research through numerous magazine articles and patterns as well as through her books The Paris Collection: French Doll Fashions & Accessories (Cumberland: Hobby House Press, 1992) and The Enchanting Trousseau of Chiffonnette Under Napoleon III 1852-1870 (West Barnstable: West Barnstable Press, 2013).

MacNeil’s introduction to this pattern includes a study of sewing and trimming techniques which employed by today’s doll customer will make every version of this chemisette unique and indispensable to the well-dressed poupée.

We hope you enjoy this pattern as much today as did those who used it seventeen years ago.
